Meet Our Physicians


Dr. Robert S. Berger, MD

Dr. Berger completed his undergraduate studies at Boston College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude.  He attended New York Medical College, graduating in the top third of his class. He completed his Medical Internship at the Washington Hospital Center.  Dr. Berger served as a USAF Flight Surgeon for 4 years, then completed a Dermatology Residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas.  Dr. Berger scored in the top 1/3 in the annual national dermatology training exams.  He has also received national awards for research papers as a resident.  Dr. Berger is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology.  After starting this practice in Waldorf, Dr. Berger was recalled to active duty to serve as the only active duty Air Force dermatologist on the Eastern seaboard during Desert Storm.  After Desert Storm, he joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins Department of Dermatology, where he has received teaching awards, and is currentley an assistant professor.  Dr. Berger has also authored many articles and lectures at national and international meetings.  Dr. Berger has devised nationwide protocols for the treatment in acne using an intense pulse light device.  He is involved in many research projects with national companies and John Hopkins.  In addition to being an expert in acne, psoriasis, eczema and all skin disorders, Dr. Berger specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers; having diagnosed and or treated over 10,000 skin cancers in his career to date.  He is an expert in laser/light therapies for color spots, veins, hair, acne, wrinkles, tattoo removal, skin tightening and resurfacing-all with a non-ablative technique which virtually eliminates the risk of scarring.  Dr. Bergers' pioneering efforts in the treatment of acne with light therapy have resulted in the most experience in the world with this treatment modality.  While he uses injectable fillers and wrinkle reducers, the newer laser therapies may result in lessening or eliminating their use.



Mary Hoke, PA-C

Mary Hoke PA-C is a certified Physician Assistant who joined Dr. Bergers' practice in 2006.  She has twelve years experience treating patients in private practice in the Waldorf area.  Ms. Hoke graduated from the PA program at George Washington University School of Medicine in 1995.  She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, The Maryland Academy of Physicians Assistants and the society of Dermatological Physicians Assistants.


Eileen Leahy, CRNP

Eileen Leahy CRNP is a Certified Nurse Practitioner with other 28 years of patient care experience.  She is a graduate of the John Hopkins University where she recieved a B.S. degree in nursing and a post-master's certificate as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.  She is also a graduate of the University of Virginia where she recieved a Master's Degree in Nursing.  Ms. Leahy completed her dermatology internship training with Dr. Berger. She welcomes new patients and inquiries.


Mary Farley, MD

Dr. Mary Farley graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1985. She attended medical school at The University of South Dakota School of Medicine from 1986 through 1989. After an internship in Internal Medicine at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, Dr. Farley completed Dermatology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 1992 through 1995. She completed her Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology training at Brooke Army Medical Center in 1999. After finishing her Mohs Fellowship, Dr. Farley served the US Army as Director of Dermatologic and Mohs surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX. She served both as the Army’s Assistant Program Director for the combined Air Force-Army Dermatology Residency Program and Assistant Department Chief, Department of Dermatology, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX until 2002. Dr. Farley joined Dr. Barry Leshin and Dr. John Albertini at The Skin Surgery Center in February of 2003. She is an Associate of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, a Fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology and a Member of the Association of Academic Dermatologic Surgeons.
